 If I told you about an international racing sports book, 250 seat bingo parlor, 100 slot machine casino and bar across the street from Burger King, kitty-corner from Hooter's and next door to Super WalMart would you think of Mexico for this venue? Though most gambling is still illegal in Mexico -- it is a country with 1,800 illegal gaming halls, and a populace with a gambling spirit -- some inroads are being made. This casino is one of the few legal gambling venues in Mexico. With bright neon on the outside and the sound of slots resounding on the inside, the Jai Alai reminds one of the small off the strip casinos of old Las Vegas.
The upstairs Bingo parlor has a stadium feel to it since it is at the entrance to the JaiAlai Arena and was full of avid supporters, both single adults and families. The slots are all card operated, so the only place money is seen is the cashier's cage, with some as low as 10 centavos (about a penny). US currency is acceptable to charge your card, but only if it is in pristine condition. Their was an apparently a huge concern for conterfeit money and my $20 bill with a slight tear in the corner was rejected.
Additionally, a new large scale casino resort is in the final plannng stages for Mayan Resorts on Acapulco's Diamante (Diamond) Coast.

March 2007: Smaller than its American counterparts, it lacks none of the glitz and glamour one has come to expect from the franchise. Table games and slot machines are the feature attraction.
THE NETHERLANDS
All of the casinos in The Netherlands are government owned. The Holland Casinos brand can be found throughout the country. Besides Amsterdam, there are also casinos located in Breda, Eindhoven, Enschede, Groningen, Nijmegen, Rotterdam, Scheveningen (The Hague), Schiphol Airport, Utrecht, Valkenburg, Venlo and Zandvoort.

March 2007: The Holland Casino was one of the friendliest casinos I have come across in over 30 years of gambling world wide. After having to return to my hotel to get my passport to register, the lady at the entry desk waived my entrance fee and provided me with a coupon for an appetizer plate at the bar for my trouble. The casino was very well managed, with slot machines and table games on multiple levels. The fact that my foriegn language skills are weak did not pose a problem as English was spoken by all of the staff I had contact with.
March 2007: Another common element all around Amsterdam were the Amusement Centers, such as Macau Amusementpalais. These small casinos hold 20-30 slot and video poker machines.

March 2007: There are two Venezia Casinos in Venice, one in the middle of the lagoon and the Ca' Noghera about ten miles outside of town. I visited the one outside of town and was impressed by the beauty of the room and the friendliness of the people at the check-in desk. Though it was a small casino, it had the atmosphere of a top resort anywhere in the world. It was located at the bus stop for the Verde Venezia bed and breakfast where we stayed, so we stopped in several times.
March 2007: The Ca' Vendramin located in the middle of the city claims to be Europe's oldest casino. It is also the locale of the latest James Bond movie, Casino Royale.

March 2007: There are two casinos on Gran Canaria island, one in Las Palmas and the other in Masopolanos. Both feature gaming tables and slot machines, but neither features an actual poker room.

May 2008: The Crowne Plaza and Corbici Casino was originally built by poker superstar Humberto "The Shark" Brenes. The casino is small, but has several tables and nuberous slot machines. They have one interesting game, similar to roulette, but instead of the wheel it uses a round cage sinilar to bingo games.
May 2008: The Fiesta
Casino Garden Courts near the Airport has table games, slot machines and one of the hottest night clubs in San Jose. The nightclub is open to the main casino floor to the beat of the salsa music competes with the winning slot machines. The seperate VIP room has a few tables set aside for the true high rollers. Its sister Fiesta Casino at the Ramada in Heradura offers all the same amenities, but also holds Texas Hold'em tournaments. Both properties, as well as others throughout Central America, are owned by Thunderbird Resorts.
May 2008: The Best Western Hotel Irazu's casino has table games and slot machines. It also has something to make you feel as home in San Jose, CR as San Jose, CA, a Denny's franchise. Like most of the casinos in Costa Rica, it is small by American standards, it offers table games and slot machines. Unlike American casinos where the grand prize is a new car or truck, here it was a washer-dryer.
